AIR HAWK

The AIR HAWK is a portable amusement ride offering as many as 24 passengers a thrilling ride emanating from a vertical tower standing approximately 90 feet tall. This ride is transported and mounted on one trailer. It is comprised of a hinged vertical tower which rotates on a horizontal plane by means of a slew ring bearing mounted atop the transport trailer. Alongside the vertical tower, a ring-shaped carriage travels by means of a 60hp cable winch. From the traveling carriage there are 12 arms from which a passenger seat is attached at the end of each via secondary arm. Each seat is designed to occupy two passengers.

The ARM AIR HAWK is unique in that it incorporates a safety descent system designed to allow a controlled decent of the passenger carriage in the unlikely event of lift system failure. The safety decent system is comprised of two fixed independent permanent magnet module sets.
A typical ride cycle consists of the following:

Upon activation of the pre-programmed ride cycle, the carriage ascends to clear the decel cylinders on the tower. Each decel cylinder is equipped with a safety sensor to confirm full extension of the cylinder rod once the carriage has cleared. Tower rotation begins once the decel cylinder safety switches have confirmed the carriage has cleared the cylinders. The carriage ascent continues uninterrupted while rotation accelerates to a maximum rate of 10 RPM.

When the carriage reaches maximum elevation, it remains in place for approximately two or five revolutions (dependent on selected ride program). If the “Program 1” cycle is selected, the carriage will descend approximately half the length of the tower and then return to the highest point for an additional four revolutions.

At the end of the preprogrammed ride cycle, tower rotation decelerates at a controlled rate and the carriage begins a controlled descent. Tower rotation must come to a complete stop before the carriage is permitted to reach the loading position.
